14 top students are honoured
Fourteen outstanding students were honoured yesterday in a ceremony held at the Saudi-Bahraini Institute for the Blind, Isa Town. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi and included a welcoming speech by Assistant Under-Secretary for Planning and Educational Information Mohammed Hussain Al Jowder, who is also institute board chairman.
Institute director Abdulwahid Al Khayat stressed the role of the ministry and parents in the success of students.
"Our students competed against and surpassed government and private school students in numerous fields," he said.
"We have to thank the ministry and the parents for that since they have provided us with their continuous support and giving us the latest equipment."
Speeches were also given by intermediate level outstanding graduates Abdul Hameed Ibrahim Abdul Hameed and Noor Abdul Razaq Shakeeb.
A poem, Fields of Education, written by institute head teacher Hussain Al Hulaibi, was recited by intermediate level outstanding graduate Hiba Abdul Wahab Ahmed. Then students performed songs in English and Arabic and presented a musical composition under the supervision of their music teacher Amina Al Murshidi.
Dr Al Nuaimi honoured the top students. A separate honouring ceremony was also held for the institute's teachers and staff.
