Oral health drive for handicapped begins today

To celebrate the International Day for the Handicapped, oral health services in the Ministry of Health and the Bahrain Dental Hygienists Association are teaming up to organise the second event for the handicapped during a National Oral Health promo- tion campaign from today to December 21. The programme is part of the Bahrain British Dental Congress which will be under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Nada Haffadh in February.
The campaign is designed to serve handicapped children and special-needs youngsters who have all been invited to attend.
They have been chosen from different centres and institutes pro-viding care to them.
The programme kicks off today at Shaikhan Al Farsi Centre under the patronage of Dr. Abdulwhab Mohammed Abdulwahab, undersecretary of primary care and public health. Around 200 special-needs children will be present.
Songs and poetry on oral health will be presented by the youngsters ofAl Majd Pre-school, and a film on oral health will also be screened along with an exhibit on dental care. Tomorrow, a similar programme will be conducted at the Dolphin Park where around 20 children from the Hope Institute will join in the obser-vance.
They will present a show related to oral hygiene giving oral-: health information in an entertaining way. The third programme, on December 21, will involve 50 disabled youngsters from the rehabilitation centre visiting the Italian Circus at Al A'hli Club. The events have been sponsored by Bahrain Hotels Company, the Italian Art Centre, Dolphin Park, Oral, Colgate Palmolive, Al Anwar Discount Centre and Al Osra Supermarket.
